Oh you pretty thang

So I came across this twin bed at an antique store. It's SO perfect. I don't know if you understand how perfect it would be in my room.
I pretty much painted my cheap IKEA bed to imitate something like this, and this is the real thing. Plus, the flowers on the frame are pink, yellow, and blue--all colors that I am incorporating into my room.
However, the bed is on layaway. AHH! I decided I needed to go back with my camera and take some photos to remember it by.

Gorgeous!
Some other cool things from the antique store

I also came across these French girls that would be so perfect on my wall, when I hang my other girls. However it was a bit pricey and I'm not sure I even have room for it on my wall.

I'm usually really impulsive when it comes to buying things for my room, but I decided to try this new thing, where I just take a picture of it instead of buying it. Haha.

Sadie! Fur blowin' in the wind

Such a cutiepie
I actually took this one this morning! Opened the window after it was raining. Everything about this picture is so soft and comforting to me.

Freshly rained-on orange blossoms from my backyard

I wish I was sitting in the audience for this show:

Dion & the Belmonts.
I am so hooked on them right now!

Wild Fanimals

Justine and I are going to try to set up a craft booth at Coachella this year. We'll be making animal fans/masks. Last night I made these samples:

Owl
Panda
Wild Thing
Herrow Kittay and Sadie

The whole wild bunch:

I had so much fun making these!

Reviving old things

A while ago, I salvaged this birth control compact, because I thought it was cute and had some potential. I wove some ribbon through the slots and started painting and gluing things on it.

I decided to make it into a little travel kit for bobby pins and jewelry, as I never seem to have a place to keep these things when I do travel. I added a mirror, a pink background, and some pockets.
I sewed two pockets and the bottom one has velcrow to hold in jewelry. The velcrow actually kind gets in the way of the bobby pins and the whole compact doesn't close perfectly, but this was a good sample one. Maybe I'll make another one next month.

I also wanted to share this idea for updating old shoes. I got these oxford heels 2 years ago (Payless I think) and they've lasted me so long. They're probably one of the most comfortable pairs of heels I have.
I decided to update them by replacing the laces with ribbon. I think it gives them a fresher look:
And since I forgot to post it before, here is our music video!

Excited for spring

I guess I've been more into this blog lately, and hopefully I'll be able to keep it up once school starts.
I decided I'm going to start sharing outfits again, as my style changes rapidly and working at Dee-lux allows me to have an almost perpetually revolving closet.
I'm really excited for spring and I guess a little inspired by the simple, neutral styles that are popular this season. I usually go for crazy colors and prints so I decided to tone it down a bit and experiment with some simpler, lighter pieces.

Everything I'm wearing is from Dee-lux. The shirt is Zara and was $10! AA racerback tank, globe necklace, cut off shorts.

This outfit reminded me of Laura Dern in Jurassic Park. I think her 90s style in this movie makes for some good inspiration for spring.

While looking up these pictures, I came across this blogger, who also agrees:

Really cute blog, by the way.

I recently found this super floral shoulder-padded blazer at Goodwill. I plan on adding some striped lining on the sleeve cuffs.
Today I did some merchandising at work, which means it was a really good, fun day. We have these old beat-up display cases that we usually just put stuff in. I have been wanting to do a little more than that and have been saving some things at home to use, so I finally brought them in and put a little more effort into the cases.

I know it doesn't look that amazing, but it's a whole lot better than it was before and actually looks a lot better in person too.
It's kind of hard to take all these little things and display them in an organized, cohesive way, but it's one of my favorite things to do!

(case 1)
Last night I whipped up these little fabric cupcakes to display some new necklaces, which are adorable, by the way.

Alice in Wonderland necklace to match the book

My mom's old jewelry box

Another old jewelry box to hold our new mini perfumes and hand cream by Love & Toast. They smell sooo good!
I would love to give these cases a new paint job, but I think we're getting new ones sometime this year.
Added some hanging feathers..

My mom's old sewing box:

I'm going to Vegas with my cousins this weekend! I'm so excited! I don't know what to wear..

Photos

Here are some 35mm photos I just got developed. I was kind of surprised at how good some of them turned out! I think I'm getting a little better at guessing the right aperture and shutter speed.

Thrift store day with Marcio. His new vintage Samsonite luggage:

I took Marcio up to North Hill, since he'd never been there. It's one of those special places where I have a ton of great memories. It was the perfect time of day.

I really like this one:

Riverside

Marcio took this of me

Family party; My cousin, Lindsie, and baby Riley. I'm just happy these ones actually turned out!

My cousins, Kylie and Tyler:

These next 3 were from a disposable $.99 camera.
I had the camera in my purse and took a picture 2 consecutive days of driving to work. Driving has, unfortunately, become a constant part of my life, since I work in Costa Mesa.

Rainy day
This was from a scene we shot for our music video. I like how blurry it turned out; it's kind of dreamlike.

These are from a picnic I had with Ryan a while back

And my favorite one of them all:
